Revell

Hurricane Mk1

1/72nd Scale
KielKraft

Hurricane MkII

Never seen one so cannot comment

Aoshima

Hurricane MkIID

Rivets, poor detail poor kit. Not worth the effort.

Airfix

Hurricane MkIV

This is the first kit I ever built. These comments are from memory. Raised details and see through wheel well allowing one to see all the way up through the cockpit. Kit was basic in comparison to todays.

Hurricane MkI/IIa

Rivit city. Spine too low (about 2mm) but wonderful set of armament included

Hurricane MkI

Nice accurate little kit See through wheel well, step in rear fuselage profile to allow canopy to sit right, raised panel line detail and basic cockpit but boy does this kit reward you for the work you put into it

Heller

Hurricane MkIIC (also released by Airfix) Raised panel details, enclosed wheel wells and an opening cockpit canopy, which causes the spine to be narrowed and pinched in to accommodate this feature. Cockpit detail consists of instrument panel, good seat and joystick but the tubular construction is missing

Frog

Hurricane MkIIC/Sea Hurricane

Memory says you could see through the cockpit when looking through the wheel well. Had an insert for rear fuselage for the
arrestor hook which did not fit well

SMER

Hurricane MKIV

Heller kit with resin parts to do a true MkIV. Get one if you can

Hurricane MkIIC (superdetail)

Heller kit with so-so photo-etched parts.

Matchbox

Hurricane MkII/ MkIID

Nice attempt by Matchbox for the period. Now very dated Was also good to see Matchbox retooling/modifying their kits to allow for alternative versions (MkIID) IIRC canopy was problematic

Revell

Hurricane MkI

Old original Revell kit from who knows when. Memory recalls rivets and not much else. Wing useful if you wish to build a slip wing version as it was moulded in an upper and lower section,

Hurricane MkIIb/ Hurricane MkIIC/ Sea Hurricane MkIIC<

New generation kit(s) good attempt though. An attempt has been made at cockpit detail but is a little flat, Enclosed detailed wheel wells. No step in rear fuselage but rear bulkhead then sits in the wrong position. Construction a little difficult due to suppling a separate panel to accommodate the Sea Hurricane option. These Revell kits are very good value for money. Sky shade of decals very off

Academy

Hurricane MkIIC

Scribed details with enclosed wheel well and cockpit detail which is a bit on the heavy side Rib detail on the rear fuselage very weird. Does not taper down the spine as it should. Step in rear spine at the cockpit to accommodate the canopy overlapping the fuselage. Decals poor

Hasegawa

Hurricane MkI/ Hurricane MkIIb/ Hurricane MkIIC/ Hurricane MkIID

Basically the same kit with various options, tries to be all things to all men. Original releases had issues with the noses. IIRC some MkI's nose was the length of the MkII. I believe it has all been resolved. Some basic cockpit detail but seat far too narrow, nice wheel well detail. Fuselage rib detail a little over exaggerated. Step in fuselage to allow canopy to sit over the fuselage. This is common to most Hurricane kits, and is inaccurate but is due to moulding limitations.

Sword

Hurricane MkI (early)

Only fabric covered wing in this scale. Nice resin details and vacform canopy. Limited run kit which requires some modelling skills

1/48th SCALE

Airfix

Hurricane MkI

This kit is based on the research done for their 24th scale Hurricane, and it shows. Fine and raised panel details and cockpit detail is a little heavy but still a most worthy kit to build.

Hurricane MkI/Sea Hurricane

New tooling from 2020 by Airfix Decent kit although upstaged by Arma

Monogram

Hurricane MkIIC

HMMMM see through wheel well IIRC. Early generation Monogram, nowhere near the quality of Monogram's prime. Not recommended

Hobbycraft

Hurricane MkIIC<

This kit appears to be based on Monogram kit.The less said about it the better though. Not recommended

Classic Airframes

Hurricane MkI (early)
Only fabric wing kit in this scale. CA are renouned for their choice of the unusual, and details although being limited runs are not shake and bake kits

Hasegawa

Hurricane MkI/ Hurricane MkIIb/ Hurricane MkIIC/ Hurricane MkIID/ Sea Hurricane

Multi variant tooling, Hasegawa do know how to maximise their mould investments. Detail wise the nicest Hurricane in this scale, and bar the Airfix 24th scale the best detailed. Wheel wells are complete as well as the cockpit. This kit trounces the Airfix one on detail. Rear fuselage rib detail too heavy

Italeri

Hurricane MkI/IIC

Typical Iraleri, could be better

Arma

Excellent kit pricey

1/32nd SCALE

Revell

Hurricane MkI

Old kit, Needs work

Hurricane MkIIC

The above kit modified by adding canon barrels and add-on ammo bulges for the wing. Not much else though. So you get a MkI fuselage with MkI wings and MkII armament

Hurricane MkIIB

This 2020 release bears no resemblance to their earlier kits. Well detailed. Recommended

Fly

Mk1, MkIIB/C/D

"Limited" run kut with multi media, although not typical of limited run models. Recommended.

1/24th SCALE

Airfix

Absolutely superb kit, extremely well detailed with almost complete interior. Raised details though and complex to build. This kit will reward all work put into it and will make a great center piece Hurricane, but its big.

Trumpeter

This company has announced two Hurricanes a Mk1 and a MkII for release in the future. Although recent pictures seem to indicate a third kit (MkII variant) will be released, unless it will be included in a single multi-variant MkII kit
