LionsRock Lodge

A surprising discovery during a trip to the Bethlehem Airshow was the existence of a Big Cat Sanctuary close to Bethlehem.  Nestling against the sandstone mountains the lodge with a magnifecent view onto the plains below Lions Rock lodge (previously known as the Cam-o-Rhi Game Reserve) is located a scant 20 or so kilometers from Bethlehem in the South Eastern Free State.

This reserve is part of the Vier-Pfoten (Four Paws) group, an international animals in distress NGO, and Vier-Pfoten has recognised that South Africa is the most suited location to house these large cats. Most of these large cats have been rescued from various institutions and individuals from all over the world. Recent additions to the park are a group of 10 lions rescued from a Safari Park in Austria that closed down leaving these cats stranded.
